- Qi2 25W Charging Boosts iPhones Fast, Android Support Next
- iPhones to get faster charging, iPhone 17 likely supported
- Android phones promised support, details still unclear
- New accessories and devices are already entering the market
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has officially launched Qi2 25W charging, a faster wireless standard that delivers up to 70% more power than the original Qi2. After months of anticipation, the next generation of wireless charging is finally rolling out—starting with Apple’s iPhones.
Apple has confirmed that its iPhones will support the new standard, although it hasn’t specified which models. Given that the iPhone 16 lineup already supports 15W Qi2 and 25W through MagSafe, they could likely receive Qi2 25W support via a software update.

The upcoming iPhone 17 is expected to launch with full Qi2 25W charging built in. This development adds to Apple’s aggressive hardware roadmap, especially after the iOS 26 leak controversy that hinted at deeper MagSafe integration.
Meanwhile, accessory makers aren’t waiting around. Top brands like Anker, Baseus, Ugreen, and Aukey are already releasing Qi2 25W-compatible chargers. Aukey’s MagFusion 2X, one of the first certified Qi2 chargers, sets the stage for a new wave of fast wireless solutions.
“Qi2 25W” is coming to “major Android smartphones,” and it’s pretty obvious Google is first in line 👀

Fady Mishriki, chair of the WPC’s board of directors, said:
“Consumers will be delighted when they experience Qi2 25W. The number of certified devices in the queue is unlike anything we’ve seen before.”
The WPC expects several hundred Qi2 25W-certified products to hit the market soon, including wireless power banks, pads, and docks. With this kind of momentum, wireless charging is finally catching up to wired charging in speed and efficiency.
More powerful Qi2 wireless charging with 25W charging speed is now official. It could come to Galaxy phones in the future.

Android Joins Qi2—but How Far Will It Go?
Android users have waited long enough, and now the WPC has confirmed that “major Android smartphones” will soon support Qi2 25W charging.
However, the announcement left out specifics—no mention of whether Google’s Pixel 10, which is rumored to debut August 20 (source), will offer full Qi2 support or stick with a basic version.
So far, only the HMD Skyline offers true Qi2 support with the required magnetic ring for full-speed charging. Others, like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, are merely “Qi2 Ready,” supporting 15W Qi2 speeds without built-in magnets.
Users must rely on external magnetic cases to unlock 25W charging, which falls short of the seamless experience Apple offers with MagSafe.
This raises a big question:
Will Android OEMs finally add magnets to their devices, or will they keep treating it as an optional add-on?
Until we see true magnetic Qi2 support built into upcoming Android flagships like Samsung’s next Galaxy series or the Pixel 10, iPhones will maintain the edge in wireless charging experience.

For Android users hoping to power through their day without cables, this evolution could be as significant as the introduction of 5G chips in laptops like the new Surface Laptop 5G, changing how we think about on-the-go productivity and connectivity.
Accessory Makers Fueling a Rapid Qi2 Ecosystem Expansion
It’s not just phones feeling the impact of Qi2 25W charging. Accessory manufacturers are helping create a rich ecosystem of compatible devices—from power banks to desktop charging docks.
Brands like Anker, Ugreen, Aukey, and Baseus are pushing out a new wave of certified accessories, designed to support both iPhone and Android. Many of these products feature magnetic alignment, ensuring optimal charging efficiency and ease of use.
The WPC says “several hundred” Qi2 25W-certified accessories are in the certification pipeline, many of which are expected to be released before the end of 2025. This expansion will allow consumers to upgrade their setups with powerful, fast, and more convenient wireless solutions.
What’s more, this evolution in wireless charging ties into a broader tech shift. As devices become increasingly connected and efficient—whether through smarter cloud solutions like Microsoft SharePoint Servers or the long-anticipated Tesla India Launch—consumers are demanding speed, power, and simplicity.
Qi2 25W is shaping up to deliver just that, at a time when the tech world is moving faster than ever.
