Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7: Slimmer, Lighter, and More Powerful
Samsung is doubling down on foldable innovation. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now expected to be the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable on the market, measuring just 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded.
Thatโs comparable to the Honor Magic V5, which recently set the record as the thinnest foldable to date. But hereโs the real shocker โ it weighs just 216 grams, making it the lightest in its category.
Despite being slimmed down, the Fold 7 keeps the same 4,400mAh battery and is getting larger displays โ 6.5 inches externally and 8 inches internally. Under the hood, itโs powered by Qualcommโs latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring top-tier performance.
Storage options include 256GB and 512GB, though some markets might also get a 1TB model. The camera setup remains under wraps, but the leak mentions a 200-megapixel sensor, likely the main camera.

Color variants include blue, black, and silver.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 isnโt just a smaller sibling. Itโs getting some big changes, too โ starting with a 4.1-inch wrap-around cover screen that curves around the dual camera lenses, similar to Motorolaโs Razr design. This new look was recently seen in a leaked hands-on video, giving it a more futuristic vibe.
The Flip 7 also slims down while gaining a 4,300mAh battery, a notable bump from previous models. It comes with the same chipset and storage options as the Fold 7 and keeps a 50MP main camera.
For those interested in tracking their accessories like phones or wallets, this ties into recent developments like Appleโs MagSafe wallet tracker, which shows how integrated tech is becoming across personal devices.

Samsung Flip 7 FE Brings Budget Option to Foldable Lineup
Whatโs truly new this year is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE โ Samsungโs first real attempt to make foldables more affordable. Itโs expected to offer the same screen sizes as the regular Flip 7, including the large wraparound display, although this contradicts earlier reports that it would reuse the Flip 6โs design.
The Flip 7 FE cuts back on a few specs to lower the price:
-
128GB and 256GB storage options
-
Slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery
-
Limited to black and white color choices
With this model, Samsung is targeting users who want the foldable experience without the premium price tag. While exact pricing isnโt confirmed, the FE label hints that it could become the most affordable foldable phone Samsung has ever launched.
Also spotted in the leaked images were new Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic models, featuring the squircle design from the Galaxy Watch Ultra. However, thereโs still no sign of the much-rumored Samsung trifold phone, which may get a teaser during Unpacked but likely won’t be fully revealed yet.
The Galaxy Unpacked event is shaping up to be a major moment not just for Samsung but for the entire mobile industry. This comes at a time when tech companies are under pressure, from regulatory issues like X blocking Reuters in India, to broader shifts in the workforce where AI is increasingly supporting laid-off workers.
Samsungโs full reveal is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, and if these leaks are accurate, there wonโt be many surprises left.
