This update is a big step toward replacing Nvidia’s older control panel completely, a goal the company has been working on for the last 18 months.
The new features will roll out to beta users on August 19 and hit general release next week.
Let’s break down what’s new.

DLSS Goes Global, Control Panel Gets Modern Makeover
The most exciting feature in this Nvidia App Update is the Global DLSS Override. Until now, gamers had to manually configure Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) for each game.
That’s changing. With this new feature, you can now set DLSS preferences once and have them applied across all supported titles.

Even better, the in-game Nvidia overlay will now show which DLSS setting is active, no more second-guessing your configuration mid-game.
But that’s just the beginning.
Nvidia is finally bringing classic control panel settings into the modern app. This includes:
-
Anisotropic Filtering (AF)
-
Anti-Aliasing (AA)
-
Ambient Occlusion (AO)
-
Nvidia Surround Setup Tool
These features were previously buried inside the older Nvidia Control Panel, which many users had to keep around just for these tweaks.
With the new update, all of these can now be managed within the sleek Nvidia App interface, reducing the need to switch back and forth.
This move follows a growing trend of modernizing legacy tools, something we’ve also seen with Microsoft 365 Companion Apps, which are streamlining productivity workflows across devices.

Smooth Motion and Smarter G-Assist Now for More GPUs
Another huge addition is the wider rollout of Smooth Motion, Nvidia’s AI-powered feature that improves gameplay smoothness, especially in titles that don’t support DLSS Frame Generation.
Previously, Smooth Motion was exclusive to the RTX 50-series GPUs. But with this Nvidia App Update, it’s now available for the RTX 40-series lineup as well.
Smooth Motion is more than just a frame booster. It uses driver-level AI to deliver perceived frame rates up to 2x higher, whether you’re gaming at native resolution or using DLSS Super Resolution. Even games using third-party upscalers benefit.
This kind of AI-enhanced performance echoes similar innovation in the broader tech world, like Cohere’s recent $6.8B valuation boost thanks to its cutting-edge AI solutions, a clear sign that AI-first approaches are reshaping both hardware and software experiences.

For gamers with RTX 40-series GPUs, this means a serious performance uplift without needing the latest hardware.
And if you’re someone who relies on Nvidia G-Assist, the smart AI game assistant, there’s good news there too. Nvidia has optimized the AI model behind the assistant to use 40% less memory.
Despite the reduced memory usage, the assistant will respond even faster, making it more useful in real-time situations.
As Nvidia expands its AI strategy, the U.S. government is keeping a close eye on the company’s influence.
Recently, there have been increased demands to curb Nvidia’s sales due to its dominance in AI chip manufacturing, making every product update all the more impactful.
One Step Closer to a Fully Unified Nvidia Experience
With each update, Nvidia continues to fold more of its legacy tools into a single, unified app. This not only simplifies user experience but also reduces confusion for new users diving into GPU settings for the first time.
This week’s Nvidia App Update pushes that vision forward. Features that were once scattered across different tools are now in one place, more accessible than ever.
And with global DLSS settings, upgraded AI tools, and support for more GPUs, Nvidia is making it clear: it’s all about performance, ease of use, and future-ready tools.
This update is also aligned with user-centric design trends we’ve seen elsewhere in tech.
For instance, Windows 11’s dark mode improvements and even physical innovations like Teenage Engineering’s DIY-friendly PC case show how companies are listening to users and simplifying control in both software and hardware.
If you’re in the beta program, check your app after 9 AM PT on August 19. Everyone else can expect the update to hit next week.
And just like Nvidia’s roadmap, even upcoming devices like Pixel 10 Pro Fold are pushing boundaries with smart design, power efficiency, and deeper AI integration.
