Key Points
- Apple says a new MacBook Pro, which runs on the M4 chip is set to launch October 30.
- Other devices like the Mac mini and the iMac, which also runs on the M4, may be released soon.
- The 3nm design in the M4 chip promises significant improvement with a 38 TOPs neural engine.
- Macs could feature some of the Apple Intelligence AI features, which would further enhance their usability.
The M4 MacBook Pro is Appleโs latest leap in laptop technology, with a new M4 chip that promises groundbreaking performance and efficiency. According to the companyโs recent notice, the new M4 MacBook Pros will be unveiled at an event on the 30th of October.
Although the M4 MacBook Pro models seem likely to top the list, there are reports that other new Mac devices with the M4 chip such as the new iMacs and Mac minis could also be in the works.

Two M4 MacBook Pro Models are coming up
Put on top, the new MacBook Pro models include the much anticipated M4 processor series and are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch varieties.
As stated by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, they will be equipped with M4 Pro and M4 Max processors, which will change the power and efficiency of these devices as well as the processing speed, thanks a finely developed Tsmt 3nm architecture.
As seen in the latest iPad Pro, the M4 chip has already shown significant promise, meaning the new MacBook Pros are likely to dominate in terms of performance standards.
The 38 trillion Operations Per Second (TOPs) of the M4โs Neural engine also comes into the picture as it makes Appleโs chipsets able to compete with other high-level AI markets that are held by the likes of Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Intelโs Core Ultra 200.
I believe this neural engine will power new artificial intelligence capabilities within the macOS environment including the new applications for Supplemental intelligence by Apple.
Hence, a user will start interacting with a Mac the same way they do with mobile devices to edit pictures, rephrase content or handle messages.
New iMac and Mac Mini Might Join the M4 Family.
Despite the MacBook Pro line taking the spotlight, there are whispers that borderline cut-down blades complementing the M4 variant might be launched sometime in 2023 Some key points to note are the newly designed Mac mini also features five USB C ports within a smaller body and even offer the M4 or M4 Pro chips.
For that matter; the Mac mini would be making its first big change in years. The cut-down devices alongside the Mac range of devices are rumored to get their first rebranding in over a decade.
As the timing is still unverified, the arrival of the M4-powered iMac could be bearing down on the horizon. Those who are familiar with Apple would remember the last major redesign in the iMac that was done in 2021.
A new M4 iMac would not only be an upgrade performance-wise but also, it would ensure the desktop range remains in sync with the recent chip architecture, distancing itself from anticipations of an everyone update every now and then.
To those interested in further models of Apple such as MacBook Air or Mac Studio or Mac Pro, M4 processor updates wonโt be there before 2025, and that too would follow the launch of the 2025 Macintosh Air in the first quarter.
There is a reason why each of Appleโs maximum-end models would retain the M3 architecture a little while longer as they transition their M4 models into more devices.
Apple Intelligence and the AI Leverage in M4
More recently, Apple has turned its attention to the adoption of AI tools across its macOS and iOS platforms. โApple Intelligence,โ a cultural modification of AI, this suite of tools is also expected to be rolling out soon, thus offering text, photo, and speech capabilities on iPhones and iPads.
Macs could also integrate with Apple Intelligence with a new M4 chip that has advanced neural engine technology potentially covering generative AI applications throughout the Apple ecosystem.
This development also illustrates Appleโs determination not to fall behind many new generations of AI personal computer processors based on natural language and natural way of use.
Appleโs anticipated new products are meant to be a combination of hardware along software. Considering that the new M4 MacBook Pros are likely to steal the spotlight, consumers are expected to better process information and enjoy AI enhancements that could be the new age of Appleโs ecosystem of Macs and other related devices.
